Super Smugglers...Anonymous Heroes

Faster than a speeding go-fast boat...Super Smugglers to the rescue!

Perhaps it is a bit disconcerting to discover how easy it might be to smuggle anything into this country. But in this case, I am applauding the gutsy behavior of unknown heroes who risk prosecution to help Cubans that are struggling to get out of their island prison. I probably should not be calling too much attention to these people who take matters into their own hands to help those in need. I want them to remain anonymous for their own protection. But at the same time, I want to praise them loudly for their courage and reckless abandon...an admirable characteristic that is typically Cuban.

Pat,

The problem is that these smugglers are being allowed to enter Cuba and pick up migrants ergo they are operating under the knowledge ans supervision of the castro regime. They collect large sums of US dollars to transport the migrants and pay castro a cut.

It's a no lose proposition for the beard. He gets rid of people that don't want to be there (less mouths to feed), cahses in on them, and hurts the US in the process.

Henry,

Where are the US dollars coming from?

The money comes from US relatives of the migrants. These guys don't risk their very expensive boats (which can be confiscated) for altruism. Everything about the way Cubans migrate to the US right now is a way for Castro and his cronies to cash in. Even if you get lucky and win "el bombo" you need an exit visa. And let's put it this way it's harder to get one (without cash) than it was for Victor Lazlow to get out of Casablanca.
